- Friday, Nov. 21st, 2008: Senator-elect Mark Begich will join Kells Hetherington on Meet the People at 11am AKST to discuss his recent victory in the Alaska Senate race.

- The internet stream is having some "technical difficulties" and the fine folks that provide the service are working on it. If you happen to get it to stream for more than two seconds, drop a note to let us know where you're listening from and what player you're using. Thanks for your patience. 11/14 1:41pm AKST

- KSDP is looking for volunteers to DJ at least one hour a week. You choose the music and time.  Stop by the radio station or call us at 383-5737.

Community News for Nov 17th to 23rd, 2008:

- The Seniors are selling homemade pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving.  They will be delivered to your door with a tub of Cool Whip.  The cost is $20 a pie.  Call to the Sand Point School or see one of the seniors, Dylan Gundersen, Ariel Gundersen, Jack Foster, Jasmine Maligaya, or Cody Krone to order your pie.

- Beginning Monday, November 24th, the City Office will be open from 8:30 am-4:30 pm.

- The Sand Point Clinic will be closed next Thursday and Friday in Observance of Thanksgiving. Please call 911 in case of emergency.

- Stop smoking now!!!  Join the Great American Smokeout, today (Thursday).  See the Eastern Aleutian Tribes Clinic for more info.

- 30 in. TV for Sale!!!!  $150 OBO.  Call Tony at Work at 383-5737 or at Home at 383-2125.

- There will be a special Thanksgiving Bingo at the City Gym, this Sunday.  There will be prize drawings for turkeys and hams.  You must be 19 years-old to play Bingo and 21 year-old buy and play pull-tabs.  Doors open at 5:30 p-m.  Bingo starts at 6:30 p-m.

- Thanksgiving Dinner at the Sand Point Baptist Chapel on Thursday Nov. 27th, 2008. This is a community event and you are invited. Come and celebrate this great day together with food, fellowship, fun and games. Bring your favorite dessert or salad, the church will provide the rest of the meal (turkey & dressing / rolls & bread / vegetables / cranberry sauce / coffee / kool-aid & punch). Doors open at 11am and dinner will be served around 1pm. Please, no alcoholic beverages. Questions? Contact interim Pastor John E. Walker (383-4551) or Robert Kochuten (383-5363).

- The Sand Point Women’s Club is working on republishing their cookbook and looking for more recipes.  If you would like to include your favorite recipes in the next version, send them to Karen Johansen by email to karenj@eatribes.net, fax to 907-383-6078, or mail to P.O. Box 15, Sand Point, AK  99661.  Make sure to include your name with your recipe.

- The Shumagin Corporation is looking for a part-time maintenance worker.  It pays 18.00/hr, depending on experience.  Call 383-35-25 if interested.  Open until filled.

- The City of Sand Point is looking for a Building Maintenance Worker.  It’s a full-time permanent position and pays the minimum of $14.97/hr. with full benefits. 

- The City of Sand Point is looking for a Refuse Collection (Solid Waste) Operator.  It’s a full-time temporary position and pays $16.10/hr. Apply for both City jobs at the Sand Point City Office.

- The Sand Point School is recruiting substitutes for Custodial Services as well as for Teacher Aides and Teachers.  If you’re interested and able to help your community’s school, please contact Jeanne Perkins as soon as possible at 383-23-93.

The Sand Point School is looking for a Custodian. It's for 10 months per year, 6 hours per day and pay ranges from $12.70 to $15.59/hr. with benefits. Application closing date is Nov 26th, 2008. Apply to Principal Jenne Perkins.

- A Community Second Hand Store will soon be opening at the City Building. All donations (clean and sellable items) will be appreciated. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in helping. For more information call Mary Mobeck at 383-2791 or Norma Mason at 383-2491.

- The Sand Point School is *still* looking for a Girls Basketball Coach by December 1st.  Call Rick Breske at 383-23-93.
 
- The Community Library and Computer Lab times are Mondays thru Fridays from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 4:00 to 6 p.m.  The library will be closed on Sundays.

- If you would like to have your boats blessed, you can call Father Andrew Kashevarof at 383-66-37 and leave a message.  He will call you back.
Fr. Andrew is also giving away *THREE* free kittens.  Already trained.  Call and leave a message at 383-66-37.
